AmCham Invites MSI’s Guatemalan Law Firm to Speak on Oil Pollution International Law Sati Foakes - 02 November 2009

Firma de Abogados attorney addresses AmCham's Energy Committee

After a recent successful presentation to the American Chamber of Commerce’s (AmCham) Environmental Committee in Guatemala, MSI’s Guatemalan law firm member Firma de Abogados was invited back by AmCham, this time to present the topic to the Energy Committee.

Karina Dávila, lawyer from Firma de Abogados, presented before AmCham’s Energy Committee’s monthly meeting the benefits for Guatemala of ratifying the International Maritime Organization’s Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage (CLC 1992). The Convention provides compensation to anyone who experiences oil pollution damage resulting from maritime incidents involving oil-carrying ships. Energy Committee members showed their support and interest in the need to ratify such an international convention, which could greatly benefit the environment, people and general commerce.
